Despite reading and being told continually that “breakfast is the most important meal of the day” I never really felt up for it in the morning. But since I started eating more healthily and having smaller portions especially at dinner time I found that I do feel hungry in the morning and therefore need to eat something to set me up for the day.
It’s important to mix things up but one thing I am now enjoying again is good old All Bran! A 40g portion with 60ml of semi-skimmed milk (or low fat yoghurt) with a fruit of your choice totals just over 200 calories. Eat it before it goes soggy though otherwise you get that baby food feeling!
I know what you’re thinking: “Will, you’re having a joke”. But no I’m not. It doesn’t have to be All Bran obviously but it has no added sugars and to my taste still have a little sweetness. Try and find your own version but just watch the sugar content and make sure it actually has fibre in it.
As my brother pointed out when reading the back of the packet to me the other day it also delivers a new acronym for IT. A portion is more than a third of your recommended daily fibre intake and increases your “intestinal transit”! Win, win!
Hi Will, love your blog . You have given me the push that I need thanks.
